Hi Shamim,
Massive congratulations on such an amazing event! It was so special to see the community come together to celebrate both the first Black Mayor and the current Black Mayor of Islington — what a moment!
The energy was beautiful, the volunteers were so welcoming, and the food… absolutely delicious!
You should be so proud — you’ve truly outdone yourself. Please take some time to rest and soak it all in. You deserve it!

Testimonials of our Events/Activities 2025-26
'Residents Without Borders’ is a community-led charity with a high-order agenda: to smooth out inequalities in the community, to promote multiculturalism, to alleviate
deprivation, both social and ‘psychological’ - in the sense of empowering its members in all aspects of life. Judging, not only from my personal experience, but also from its won awards, it works wonders in our community!
They organise networking events and workshops in various domains, from safety to relaxation to helping people how to keep orderly and tidy households, and how to smooth out relationships by ‘educating us’ in various modes of facing lifelong problems, social, psychological, mental, and/or in how we relate to family, neighbourhood, the community, and engage the right services; they organise staff talks/seminars with information, not anticipated, but badly needed, contributing to the adoption of a more positive stance in life. And all this within the wonderful, supportive environment they create, everything they do is top-tier.
They also manage to bring people together to discuss their problems and this is great for so many people with our lonely or troubled lives. We are given a platform to discuss our problems, be listened to, but mostly get help, probably advice and find ways out of our ‘simple’ or complex problems. I’m very pleased to hear that they are growing and thriving as this will reflect back on the community and indeed on population mostly in need of this resource.
They won well-deserved awards for which I believe they are proud. Just visit their events and be inspired and rewarded yourself; Residents Without Borders
is a jewel in our community!
